How to check battery health on a bulk order
Two phones with the same grade and the same price can differ by 15% in resale value — because of battery health. It is the single number retail buyers ask about first, and the easiest one for a supplier to avoid showing.
What the number means
iPhone reports Maximum Capacity as a percentage of original design capacity. Below 80% iOS starts to throttle and the phone warns the user. For resale:
| Battery health | Market position |
|---|---|
| 90%+ | Sells at full grade price, no questions |
| 85–89% | Normal for Grade AB, small discount |
| 80–84% | Needs disclosure, expect negotiation |
| Below 80% | Battery replacement cost must be priced in |
How to verify it remotely
Ask for a short screen recording, not a photo. In the recording: open Settings → Battery → Battery Health, then scroll to show the phone's IMEI in Settings → General → About, in the same clip. A photo can be taken on any phone; a continuous recording that shows both screens is much harder to fake.
Ask for this on a sample of ten units, not one. Suppliers sort the best units to the front of the tray; a ten-unit sample is where the real distribution shows up.
Why we record it per unit
Every unit that passes our 12-point check has its battery health noted before packing. When a buyer disputes a batch, the record answers the question in one minute instead of a week of messages.
The commercial angle
If you are buying Grade C for volume, a low battery is acceptable as long as it is disclosed and priced. The problem is never a worn battery — it is discovering it after the cartons arrive. Disclosure is what separates a supplier from a reseller.
